We presented Takashi Hoshizaki with our Douglas W. Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award at a panel at JANM Saturday. Takashi's remarkable life included his wartime draft resistance, service in the Korean War and work with the space program. and then was instrumental in bringing a former barrack to

the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles

Takashi Hoshizaki was 18 and incarcerated at @HeartMountainWY when he resisted the draft. He spent two years in federal prison and was pardoned by President Truman. He joined us at @jamuseum Saturday for a look at his remarkable life and career.

The Irei project by @DRyukenWilliams and his team contains the names of the 125,000 Japanese Americans incarcerated at 27 sites during World War II. @HiguchiJD visited and stamped the names of her family members.
