Lessons from Incarceration:
The Maurice Walk Memorial Workshop at Heart Mountain
June 14 – 19, 2026
Building on our success conducting educator workshops sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation will lead a weeklong workshop for grade 5-12 educators from around the country to learn about the Japanese American incarceration during World War II, and the conditions that led to it and which still trouble our nation. We will host 30 teachers who will study about the incarceration at our new Mineta-Simpson Institute. These workshops, sponsored by the Walk Memorial Foundation, provide educators an excellent chance to learn about key historical events at the places where they happened. We’re honored to be able to bring them to you. Read below to learn about this year’s workshop!
The Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation educator workshop has been made possible in part by a major grant from the Walk Family Foundation.
