It wasn't easy for some Americans to serve their country during World War II. Our new book, Angels of War, tells the stories of the Japanese American 100th/442nd Regimental Combat Team and Black 761st Tank Battalion and how they had to fight the system to be able to serve.

Author Mark Cotta Vaz conducted dozens of interviews with soldiers from both units and wrote a compelling story of courage, racism and endurance. The stories didn't end with the war, as the veterans and their allies fought for the commendations they were denied.

Our team led by Rebecca McKinley and Split Rock Studios is collecting artifacts and writing panels that show Norm and Al’s commitment to public service and cooperation.
