We are pleased to announce that the Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation (HMWF) will host the 26th annual conference of the National Consortium on Racial and Ethnic Fairness in the Courts (NCREFC). This is the first time that the conference will be held in the Rocky Mountain West.
The conference will be held June 25-27, 2014. We anticipate around 200 attendees, including judges, lawyers, scholars, and legal professionals committed to working toward equal access and fairness within the U.S. judicial system.
As one of several sites around the country where people of Japanese ancestry were unjustly incarcerated during World War II, the area is a compelling venue for this conference. The HMWF memorializes and educates the public about the place and events that have come to symbolize the fragility of democracy and supports inquiry and research so that future generations understand the still relevant lessons of the Japanese American incarceration experience.
